Freemasonry welcomes people from all walks of life, and the Universities Scheme and Armed Forces Covenant strengthen these connections. At the Duke of Connaught Lodge, we proudly support these initiatives, offering students, academics, and military personnel a place to grow, connect, and contribute to their communities.

Masons Universities Scheme

Universities Scheme

The Universities’ Scheme was launched in 2005 with the goal of creating opportunities for university students and staff to experience and enjoy Freemasonry. Its mission is to encourage undergraduates, postgraduates, university staff, and alumni to connect with Freemasonry and explore its values in a supportive and welcoming environment. Today, the scheme includes more than 85 lodges across England and its Districts overseas.

The Duke of Connaught Lodge became part of the Universities’ Scheme in 2009. Since then, we have proudly welcomed members from universities, including students, undergraduates, postgraduates, staff, and alumni aged 18 and above. Our lodge offers a space for personal growth, camaraderie, and a deeper connection to the traditions of Freemasonry while balancing academic or professional commitments.

Armed Forces Covenant

In 2009, the Duke of Connaught Lodge joined the United Grand Lodge of England’s (UGLE) initiative to support members of the Armed Forces. We welcome serving personnel, veterans, reservists, and their families to explore Freemasonry and its values of camaraderie, service, and mutual support.

UGLE’s commitment to the military was reinforced in 2021 when it signed the Armed Forces Covenant, pledging to assist with education, housing, career transitions, and wellbeing. This partnership reflects the long-standing bond between Freemasonry and the Armed Forces.

At the Duke of Connaught Lodge, we are proud to continue this tradition by providing a welcoming community for military members to connect, grow, and thrive.
